This set includes; ‘The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby’, ‘The Personal History of David Copperfield’, ‘Bleak House’, ‘Dombey and Son’, ‘Little Dorrit’, ‘The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit’, ‘The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club’, ‘Great Expectations’ with ‘American Notes, and Reprinted Pieces’, ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’ with ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, ‘Sketches by Boz’ with ‘Christmas Books’, ‘Our Mutual Friend’, ‘Barnaby Rudge’ with ‘The Uncommercial Traveller’, ‘The Adventures of Oliver Twist’, and ‘Hard Times and Pictures from Italy’. 

Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece and seven monochrome plates to all but ‘David Copperfield’ which has a frontispiece and eight plates and ‘The Uncommercial Traveller’ which has three plates and a frontispiece. Collated, complete.

Bound in beautiful contemporary half calf with marbled paper to the boards and gilt details to the spines.
 
Undated, dated by a statement to the edition page 'printed from the stereotype edition, 1887-8'. 

 

Condition

Bound in contemporary half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Externally excellent with minimal rubbing to the extremities and joints and slight discolouration to the spines. Front hinge starting to 'Copperfield' and to the front and rear to 'Pickwick'. Internally, firmly bound with only first few pages starting to ‘Bleak House’. Pages bright and generally clean with only the odd spot to the front and rear. The odd plate closely cropped, though not effecting the illustrations.
