A complete two-volume set of The Technical Educator, originally issued as a four-part “Technical Series” supplement to Cassell's Popular Educator, published in book form by Cassell, Petter & Galpin.
These volumes are undated. Dated here using Jisc, from copies held at various institutions including the British lIbrary, University of Edinburgh Libraries and the London Museum among others.
Profusely illustrated with in-text engravings, diagrams, and technical figures. Each volume includes a striking chromolithograph frontispiece, for a total of four. Collated, complete.
This ambitious series covers a broad spectrum of applied science and industrial arts, with topics including mineral products, the principles of design, technical drawing, applied mechanics, chemistry as it pertains to the fine arts, shipbuilding, agricultural economy, fish culture, and more.
Condition
Bound in half calf with cloth boards. Externally, smart. Fading to extremities of cloth boards. Slight discolouration to boards and spine. Rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in slight loss to calf, more so to tail at the spine of the second volume. Rear joint of the first volume cracked and slightly chipped at the head of spine, but holding. Small spot of perforation to front board of the first volume, also affecting front endpapers. The odd scratch and handling mark to boards and spine. Hinges cracked, but holding firm. Scattered spotting and slight offsetting to endpapers. Small perforation to front board of volume one affecting pages up to 21, though not obscuring the text. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to fore edge and first and last few leaves.
