Scarce work. Illustrated throughout. The British and Foreign Sailors' Society's annual report for 1885 to 1886. The Society was an inter-denominational Christian organisation providing pastoral care to seafarers and was named The British and Foreign Sailors' Society until 1925 when it changed its name to The British Sailors Society. Featuring many engraved illustrations, including a full page rendering of Venice. With reference to their annual public meeting, sailors and society, sailors and the drink, sailors and blasphemy, cruelty on the high seas, legacies, and much more.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with light shelf wear and chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the boards and spine. The odd mark to the board. Minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot.
