'The Dragon and The Raven' is one of Henty's best known works, set in 9th-century England during the reign of King Alfred and centring on the adventures of a young Saxon nobleman who joins his army.
Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece and seven plates. Collated, complete.
Henty is best known for his historical and adventure novels which earned him his reputation as the most popular Boy's author of his day, inspiring other other writers to attempt writing juvenile adventure stories in his style, including Herbert Strang, Percy F. Westerman and Henry Everett McNeil.

Condition
In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Hinges are starting, but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound, with occasional cracking to the gutters. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spots, heaviest to the first and last couple leaves. Stamp to the fore-edge.
