A collection of volumes on sports and pastimes, from the sporting and publishing project conceived by Longmans Green & Co. and edited by Henry Somerset, 8th Duke of Beaufort. Between 1885 and 1902 it developed into a series of sporting books which aimed to cover comprehensively all major sports and pastimes. With contributions from authors such as: Arthur Coventry, Hon. R. H. Lyttelton, Captain Robert Weir, Clive Phillipps-Wolley, and Lilly Grove, amongst others. Illustrated by artists such as: John Sturgess, A. Lang, R. A. H. Mitchell, J.     Condition

    In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spines with the odd small mark to the boards. The odd small split to the cloth at the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light spotting and age toning to the endpapers with the occasional ink inscription to the front endpaper. Newspaper article pasted to the front pastedown of Racing and Steeple-Chasing, Fishing, and Hunting.
