A very scarce first edition.
Published to celebrate the life of Jack Russell, who helped to develop the Jack Russell Terrier and the Parson Russell Terrier, which he developed to aid in his favourite pastime, fox hunting.
Illustrated with a woodburytype frontispiece and twelve further tipped in woodburytype hunting scenes, being sketches of the Russell D'Oyly napkins
Collated, complete.
With an introduction from C.A. Mohun-Harris.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Loss of cloth to back strip tail, with further small loss to back strip head. Handling marks to boards. Bumping to front board fore edge, resulting in small losses of cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, but generally clean and bright.
