Philip Gilbert Hamerton was a British artist, art critic and author. He was a keen advocate of contemporary printmaking and most of his writings concern the graphic arts. He was an important theorist of the English Etching Revival.

This beautifully illustrated volume traces the influence of landscape upon the minds of artists, with reproductions of art by J. M. W. Turner, Titian, Albert Dürer, and Gustave Courbet, among others.

Condition

In the publisher’s original quarter morocco binding, with cloth covered boards. Rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
