Illustrated with an engraved title, one folding map, seven maps, and many in-text engravings, and with a chart to the rear. Collated, complete.
This travelogue describes Brassey's journey from England to Madeira, from Madeira to Trinidad, onto Venezuela, and around the Caribbean.
With a contemporary owner's gift inscription, dated 1885, to the half title head.
Brassey was a note traveller and author, best known for her account of her voyage across the world 'A Voyage in the Sunbeam', published in 1878.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with back strip age toned, and board perimeters age toned. Hinges strained, with front board a touch tender. Inscription to half title. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with spotting throughout, and offsetting and handling marks throughout. Small restoration to fore edge of page 61.
