The first edition, first issue, with the advertisements dated 'October 1884' to the rear as called for. This work was first published in the UK, proceeding the U.S edition by roughly four months.
Illustrated with monochrome vignettes by the noted American artist, Edward Winsor Kemble, who is best known for this collection of illustrations found in this work.
Mark Twain's popular work of fiction following the adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the friend of Tom Sawyer and son of the town's drunkard. This influential novel is considered to be one of the greatest examples of American literature, and is one of the first American novels to be written in full vernacular English.

Condition
Bound in crushed half morocco with marbled paper to the boards. Retaining original rear free endpaper. Externally, the binding is lovely with the exception of the hinges, which have failed, with the text block separate from the covers. Internally, the front and rear few pages are disbound but present, with generally bright pages with the odd spot, small closed tear, and light handling marks.
