A scarce versified edition of the fables of Aesop.
Aesop's Fables is a selection of fables, generally attributed to the Ancient Greek storyteller Aesop, who lived around 620 BCE-564 BCE. The fables are moral tales that guide in religious and secular aspects of life, following adventures of many different creatures.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, and decorative borders and vignettes throughout.
With illustrations by E. H. Garrett, F. H. Lungren, F. Childe Hassam, George Foster Barnes, and M. J. Sweeney.

Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with patterned paper to the boards, in a custom cloth chemise and custom cloth slipcase. Externally, generally, smart, a little rubbed. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots. Slipcase is a little faded, chemise is a little rubbed. Slipcase and chemise are both in a near fine condition.
