This work on gardening is a reflective account of a year spent in a garden. Offering a detailed, almost meditative exploration of the daily rhythms and observations of garden life. Written and illustrated by Eleanor Vere Boyle, a Scottish artist of the Victorian era. Boyle was one the most important female illustrators of the 1860's and was known for her watercolour children's book illustrations. She always signed her works, including her literary works, with E.V.B. to obscure her identity.
