A faithful facsimile of the 1740 chapbook 'Christmas Entertainments'. This volume is Number IV in Ye Leadenhall Presse's "Vellum-Parchment Shilling Series of Miscellaneous Literature".

Bound in vellum wraps over plain wraps.

'Christmas Entertainments' is a charming festive chapbook for children, containing festive-themed tales and poems. Some of the tales mock the supernatural, as this work was published after the 1735 Witchcraft Act.

Illustrated with in-text woodcuts.

Ye Leadenhall Presse helped the revive the popularity of chapbooks in Victorian England.

Condition

In the original publisher's paper vellum wraps over plain wraps. Externally, generally smart. Repairs to the backstrip and extremities. Wraps are age-toned with a few light marks and spots. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots.
