Set during the conflicts between the British Empire and the Ashanti Empire, this novel follows a young boy named Frank Hargate, whose fishing excursion goes awry and leads him to a harrowing experience at sea.
Written by G. A. Henty, who is best known for a prolific output of historical and adventure novels which earned him his reputation as the most popular Boy's author of his day, inspiring other other writers to attempt writing juvenile adventure stories in his style, including Herbert Strang, Percy F. Westerman and Henry Everett McNeil.
Condition
In the publisher's decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with mild rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with occasional light spotting, heaviest to the first and last few leaves. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
