A historical play inspired by the murder of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket, by agents of Henry II in 1170. The work was originally staged at the Lyceum Theatre in London. Written by Alfred Tennyson, an English poet and author who was the Poet Laureate during much of Queen Victoria's reign.
Condition
Bound in full morocco with gilt. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd small mark to the boards. Fading to the spine, front board, and board edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light spotting to the endpapers.
