The second edition of this work in a quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper boards.

A collection of old poems and songs arranged, with accompaniments, by the composer and poet Theo Marzials (1850-1920). Marzials was well known for his eccentric behaviour. He also worked as a junior assistant at the British Museum library.

This work contains the songs 'The Passionate Shepherd', 'The Spanish Lady', 'In the Merry Month of May', 'The Three Ravens', 'My Lady Greensleeves', 'Sally in Our Alley', 'When the Bright God of Day', and more.

Illustrated with colour illustrations to each page by the notable artist and book illustrator Walter Crane, engraved and printed by Edmund Evans. Crane was one of the most influential children's book illustrators of his time.

Condition

In a quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper boards. Externally, smart, with a little chipping to the extremities of the paper to the boards. Light shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout.
