The fourth edition of this volume in the publisher's original cloth binding. Ink inscription to the half title, dated 1884. 24 colour plates, one for each of the games described. Collated complete. The card games explained include: La Belle Lucie; Le Cadran; La Quinzaine; La Loi Salique; Les Quatre Coins; Le Moulin; Le Shah; Le Blocus; L'Horloge; La Forteresse; Les Quatorze; Le Sultan; Le Calcul; La Nivernaise; The Empress of India; The Besieged City; Le Parterre; Les Hemisheres; Les Petits Paquets; Le Carre Napoleon; La Duchesse de Luynes; The British Constitution; The Zodiac; Sympathie. Lady Adelaide Cadogan (1820–1890), was a British noblewoman and author, most noted for her books on plays and card games.
Condition
In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with minimal wear to the extremities, and a small stain to the front board. Internally, the binding is slightly strained in a couple of places. Faint tidemarks to the paste downs and free end papers, and to the plates, not affecting the images. Pages are otherwise bright and clean.
