    First Edition, Scarce

    The first work present here is the 1883 publication of 'Report from the Select Committee on Canals: Together with the Proceedings of the Committee, Minutes of Evidence and Appendix'.

    With eleven leaves of folding tables to the rear.

    This is a detailed parliamentary document that examines the state, management, and potential improvements of canals across Britain. It includes testimonies, committee deliberations, and statistical appendices, offering insight into the economic and logistical role of inland waterways during the Industrial Revolution.

    The second work is regarding the Railway and Canal Traffic Act 1888, and is titled 'Returns Made to the Board of Trade [...] of the Railway and Canal Traffic Act, 1888, in Respect of the Canals and Navigations in the United Kingdom'.

    This work presents official data submitted under the Act, detailing ownership, tolls, receipts, and conditions of canals and navigations.

    Condition

    In a contemporary cloth binding. Boards and front free endpaper detached but present. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned but generally clean, with spotting to first few leaves.
