Decorative Binding, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
An annual of The Girl's Own Paper, containing every issue of the weekly paper published between October 1881 to September 1882. With many in-text illustrations, alongside two colour plates and ten monochrome plates, collated and complete. Running from 1880 to 1956, the Girl's Own Paper featured stories, poetry, illustrations, educational articles, as well as columns on manners and fashion. In its first thirty years, the paper also published an a wealth of music, including musical scores by women composers. With a prize bookplate to the recto of the frontispiece. 'Presented to Harriet Howard for perfect attendance 24.7.85'
Condition
In the publisher's original red cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Lightly rubbed to the rear board and the spine, with some minor wear to the extremities. A little bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with a centimetre long tear to the cloth at the head of the spine. The front hinge is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some light scattered foxing, often to the fore edge.
