Description

First Edition, Original Binding, Very Scarce

The first edition of this very scarce work.

This pamphlet is a technical report on the work of engineers on the Manchester Ship Canal, researching what work would need to be done to create the Canal.

The Manchester Ship Canal is a 36 mile long inland waterway, which was constructed between 1887 and 1893. The canal was built to boost competition and create jobs during the Long Depression, and was first proposed to Parliament in a bill in 1882. However, due to opposition from Liverpool, the scheme was unable to be passed until 1885.

Condition

Unbound, as issued. Internally, generally firmly bound, the first and last leaves are working loose. Pages are generally bright and clean.
