First published in the 1870s, present here are later printings of the first and second series of this wonderfully illustrated guide to the grand homes of England.

The work of Llewellynn Jewitt and S. C. Hall.

Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume, and a further 210 vignette wood engravings to volume I, and 170 to volume II. Collated, complete.

Houses discussed include Alnwick Castle, Chatsworth, Warwick Castle, Knole, and Castle Howard.

In half calf signed bindings by Howell.

Condition

In half calf signed bindings, with cloth covered boards. Gilt detailing to back strips. Half of one spine label to each volume lacking. Front board of volume I detached but present. Tail of front joint of volume II starting, with board somewhat tender. Tail of rear joint of volume II starting with board firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, otherwise clean and bright.
