An educational guide to algebra by the American educator William J. Milne. This is an accessible textbook on maths, presented in a simple and attractive manner for a reader of any skill.
Milne headed two teachers' colleges in New York State, and published numerous mathematical textbooks.
From the library of American-British mathematician David Singmaster, with his ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Singmaster was emeritus professor of mathematics at London South Bank University, and was a puzzle historian, a big fan of mechanical puzzles, and an early adopter and promoter of the Rubik's Cube.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, a little rubbed. Loss to the rear joint, smaller chip to the front joint. Minor bumping to the extremities. Pencil to the front board. A few light marks to the cloth. Front hinge is starting but firm, rear hinge is tender. Stamps to the front paste down and endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
