He often addressed religious problems in his writings, with these early novels describing his own dissent from Protestant Christianity.
White was a British writer and civil servant with broad contributions as a journalist to publications including The Birmingham Post, The Morning Star and The Nonconformist, as well as translations of Spinoza's Ethics and later books including Miriam's Schooling and Clara Hopgood.
Condition
Rebacked with the original back strip and printed label laid down. Externally, with loss to the original back strip and wear and marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spots or handling marks.
