A detailed guide to Scottish armorial bearings between the years 1370 and 1678, 'reproduced in facsimile from contemporary manuscripts with heraldic and genealogical notes'.
Volume I is illustrated with five colour plates labelled A-E, and 117 numbered colour plates. Collated, complete.
Volume I is devoted to plates, and volume II to text.
With an index to the rear of volume II.
With the armorial bookplate of Colin Campbell Baillie to the front pastedown of each volume.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip heads and tails, with closed tear to cloth at head of volume I. Back strip lightly age toned, with handling marks and spotting to boards, which are age toned. Front hinges strained and a touch tender, with rear hinge of volume II strained and somewhat tender. Bookplate to front pastedowns. Internally, generally firmly bound, with volume I binding lightly strained to centre. Pages exceptionally bright, with instances of spotting throughout.
