The edition de luxe of this scarce work, printed on 'special hand-made paper, with proofs of illustrations on Japanese paper'. This copy is no. 276 of 300 copies printed in England, and 300 in America.

Illustrated with a frontispiece and two-hundred and thirty-five mounted vignette and full page illustrations, from artists such as J. E. Millais, W. Small, C. Green, and many others.

In a highly decorative publisher's vellum binding, with gilt detailing, blind tooling and coloured inlays to boards.

Condition

In the publisher's original elaborately tooled vellum binding. Back strip significantly age toned. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with rear joint and head and tail of front joint starting, with boards a touch tender but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with light tide marks to fore edge of first few leaves.
