John Horne, a Scottish botanist, offers a detailed and first-hand account of Fiji’s natural and economic landscape in the late nineteenth century and documents his 1877 expedition to Fiji at the invitation of Governor Sir Arthur Gordon.

Through careful botanical observations and agricultural analysis, Horne examines the cultivation of sugar cane, indigenous vegetation, forestry, and other cash crops, while also addressing broader economic and rural development issues.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bump to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinge strained, with board firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Inscription to title page head.
