    First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

    The first illustrated edition of this work.

    This work provides a detailed study of game keeping, rural living, and agriculture, depicting a picture of the life of a gamekeeper, based of the author's friendship with the keeper of the Burderop estate.

    Illustrated with a frontispiece, and in-text illustrations throughout, by Charles Whymper. 

    By Richard Jefferies, an author noted for his writing on nature and rural life. 

    Collated, bound without the half-title.

    Condition

    In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the leather. Spine is discoloured. A touch of shelf wear to the bottom edge of the front board. Cracks to the head and tail of the front joint. A few light marks to the boards and spine. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Bound without the half-title.
