A handsomely bound copy of the compiled works of sixteenth-century French Huguenot potter, Bernard Palissy, known especially for his Chinese porcelain. He struggled for sixteen years in France to imitate this intricate style, but he eventually succeeded, as imitates and adaptions of his style continued to be replicated in France until the early nineteenth century. 

Bernard Palissy was also famously well known for being a Protestant Huguenot in sixteenth-century Catholic France, resulting in his his eventual imprisonment and death for his faith. 

This work contains a compilation of many of his letters and lectures, in the original French. 

Also containing a historical and bibliographic introduction, and an analytical table, by Anatole France. 

Sumptuously bound in full morocco with five raised bands by Morrell.
