The first edition in a quarter paper vellum binding with marbled paper-covered boards.
A comprehensive account of the old hotels of Paris, written in French. This work focuses on the Grand Hotels on the Left Bank of Paris before 1789.
With an engraved folding map of the Faubourg Saint-Germain before 1789, with the location of the different hotels, to the rear of the work. Collated, complete.
With a French newspaper cut out about the work to the front paste down.
Condition
In a quarter paper vellum binding with marbled paper-covered boards and red spine label. Externally, very smart with slight discolouration and age toning to paper vellum. Bumping to spine head and tail. The odd mark to the boards and spine. Shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright if slightly age toned. Contains prior owner's bookplate to front paste down. Also with a French newspaper cut out about the work to the front paste down. Fore edge roughly cut.
