Very scarce work. A paper read before the members of the Winchester and Hampshire Scientific and Literary Society at the Guildhall, Winchester on January 13th, 1879. A study of the significance of signboards and inn signs across Hampshire, examining their role in urban life as symbols of trade and identifying markers. Written by Joseph Stevens, a local member of council for Hampshire.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, sound with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine with the odd small mark to the wraps. Light loss to the tail of the spine with the odd small closed tear to the panel edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting and the odd pencil mark or annotation. Further spotting to the first and last few pages.
