Stereotyped edition. A historical novel set in the fifteenth century seen as a study of life in the city of Florence during the Italian Renaissance. With illustrated title page, collated complete. Written by George Eliot, pen name of Mary Ann Evans, an English novelist, poet, journalist, translator, and one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. Dated from the University of Cambridge Libraries.

Condition

Bound in full green calf with gilt. Externally, sound with light rubbing and fading to the extremities. Small cracks to the front joint with minor loss to the head of the spine. Minor loss to the spine label with the odd mark to the boards. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound with the front endpaper loosening. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light spotting to the endpapers. School prize bookplate to the front endpaper.
