What Our Customers Say...

Description

Leather Binding

'A New Edition'. Bound in half-calf on marbled boards. 'Critical and Historical Essays' is a collection of articles that Lord Macaulay contributed to the Edinburgh Review. These essays have been praised by some and criticised as maintaining 'whig history' by others. Essays include 'Milton', 'Machiavelli', 'Moore's Life of Lord Byron', 'Gladstone on Church and State', and 'Warren Hastings'. Lord Macaulay (1800-1859), also known as Thomas Babington Macaulay, was a British historian and whig politician. Collated, complete.

Condition

Bound in half-calf on marbled boards. Externally, generally smart. A few marks to board, with some edge wear to extremities, particularly to the top edge of the front board and to the bands of front joint. A bit of discolouration to leather. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with very light age-toning to margins and the odd spot to the text.
