First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce first edition of Charles Spencer's guide to the modern bicycle.

Spencer penned a number of works on cycling and sports, contributing works on cycling and gymnastics to Warne's 'Useful Books' series.

With a small number of vignette illustrations of bicycles and their riders.

Including passages devoted to 'lessons in bicycle-riding', choice of machine, 'hints on training', and an account of a journey on bicycle from London to John O' Groats.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial paper covered boards. Lacking back strip. Bumping and handling marks to board perimeters. Internally, binding lightly strained. Pages bright, with handling marks throughout. Significant handling marks between pages 60 and 80.
