First UK edition, published the same year as the first US edition. Very scarce work. A record of a sermon originally preached at the Brooklyn Tabernacle on 25th February 1877. Exploring the importance of insurance and the insurance of faith, based on the notion of Joseph being the "President of the first Life Insurance Company that the world ever saw." Written by Thomas De Witt Talmage, a preacher, clergyman and divine in the United States who held pastorates in the Reformed Church in America and Presbyterian Church. He was one of the most prominent religious leaders in the United States during the mid- to late-nineteenth century.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, smart with light sunning to the extremities and the odd small mark. A 1" closed tear to the front panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout.
