Decorative Binding, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

First appearing in 1822, this is an episodic novel comprising character sketches of the occupants of English manor house Bracebridge Hall. 

Washington Irving was an American author and historian, primarily remembered for his short stories, with Rip Van Winkle' and 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow', being his most widely known. 

Randolph Caldecott was a nineteenth century illustrator and artist, known for 'The House that Jack Built' and 'John Gilpin'. With his charming in-text illustrations throughout.

Bound in smart decorative cloth. 

Condition

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; a little bumped to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. Some slight loss to the head of the front joint. Bookseller's stamp to the rear pastedown. Internally, binding is generally firm, with straining to both hinges. Pages are occasionally spotted.
