A first edition set of the first five volumes of this work, which ultimately extended to nine volumes.

Hulme was a teacher and botanist, and was best known for this series of works. The volumes provide an overview of wild flowers, containing a detailed description of each flower and their medicinal uses and habitat.

Illustrated with thirty-nine coloured plates to each volume. Collated, complete.

In signed half morocco bindings by Grieve of Edinburgh.

Condition

In a half morocco signed binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to back strips, which are lightly age toned. Rubbing to joints and back strip heads and tails. Internally, generally firmly bound. One plate detached and loosely inserted to volume I. Pages bright with foxing throughout, most concentrated to leaves facing plates.
