An uncommon early edition copy bound in original green cloth, with a richly decorated gilt front board.
Features a frontispiece, opposite the beautifully decorated half-title, and 6 further unnumbered colour plates, drawn by Kate Greenaway, and Walter Crane.
Both influential and noted artists, Kate Greenaway and Walter Crane's work is the highlight of this title.
Crane was an illustrious artist, known for his work in children's literature.
Greenaway's artwork and style is thought to have held such sway that it influenced children's fashions between the 1880s and 1890s.
Penultimate plate is loose, and slotted inside.

Bound in original green cloth. Externally, smart. Rubbing to gilt motifs, and spine. Shelf wear. Loss of cloth to head. Slight bubbling to front paste down. Spotting to endpapers. Rear hinge starting. Internally, generally firmly bound. Slight strain. Penultimate colour plate loose, slotting inside. Pages generally bright and clean. Slight spotting throughout.
