In the publisher's quarter red cloth binding with dark cloth paper boards.

No edition stated, but includes preface to 17th edition.

Organized like a ‘journal,’ it outlines tasks for gardens, glasshouses, lawns, and shrubberies month by month, offering practical, seasonal instructions, with tips on propagation, plant care, glasshouse management, and lawn upkeep. This edition includes a dedicated section on fern culture, Wardian cases and window gardening, by George Glenny, and "A brief sketch of the life of John Abercrombie".

John Abercrombie (1726-1806) was a Scottish horticulturist important to renovating garden techniques. He is noted for the book "Every Man His Own Gardener".

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. The odd minor handling mark to boards and spine. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities, resulting in very minor loss to cloth at the joints. Previous owner's bookplate to front free endpaper from "Martin & Pamela Finch: Exlibris Gastronomique", alongside blind stamp from "West Hill, Sanderstead, Surry". he odd slight spot and hadnling mark to endpapers. Hinges slightly strained with binding materials slightly exposed at endpapers. Slight offsetting to title page. internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, if slightly age toned, with scattered spotting to the first and last few leaves. One or two spots and slight spots of damp staining to the fore edge, not affecting the text.
