    With a frontispiece and numerous in-text images. A collection of charming and entertaining anecdotes from taverns and pubs across the British Isles, with records of tavern sayings. Including a detailed study into the origin of tavern signs and their meanings, as well as reminiscences of interesting and important taverns, coffee-houses, and clubs. Written by Charles Hindley, a British editor and author.

    Condition

    Bound in half calf with cloth covered boards. Externally, worn with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Light loss to the board tips and spine with cracks to the joints. Hinges held by cords only with boards likely to detach with further handling. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Library bookplate to the front pastedown.
