The scarce cloth bound first edition.

In publisher's original decorative blue cloth binding, With a frontispiece, vignette to title page and 5 further plates. Lacking 1 plate: 'Eothwald and Duva in the cave'. Collated.

This charming first edition of the collection of five short stories, including 'Fido and Fidunia' and 'Esgair: The Bride of Llyn Idwyl'. With intricate illustrations by British artist Randolph Caldecott, of which the Caldecott Medal was named after, this volume holds an abundance of fantasy with engaging tales and illustrations.

Condition

In publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Shelf wear to spine tail and bump to head. Odd mark to boards. Hinges slightly strained, most significant to the front. Loss of paper to front pastedown due to bookplate removal. Internally, firmly bound. Mark to rear of title page. Pages are clean and bright with the odd spot. Lacking one plate.
