Retold by Anthony Trollope, an English novelist and civil servant of the Victorian era. Tacitus, 1873. A detailed study of the life and works of Publius Cornelius Tacitus, known simply as Tacitus, a Roman historian and politician widely regarded as one of the greatest Roman historians by modern scholars. Written by William Bodham Donne, an English journalist, known also as a librarian and theatrical censor. Edited by Reverend William Lucas Collins, a Church of England priest and essayist.
Condition
In the original half vellum binding with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and fading to the extremities. Discolouration to the spine as is typical with ageing, with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting, predominantly to the first and last few pages. A contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper.
