The Imperial Library Edition of The Poetical Works of Alfred Tennyson. A complete set of volumes I-VII, published between 1875-1881. All volumes published by C. Kegan Paul, except volume IV and VI published by Henry S. King.   

In full calf prize binding from Dublin College, with each volume containing an engraved frontispiece. Collated complete.

Perhaps the most famous poet laureate in British history, Tennyson remains very popular and has become an icon of English literature. This particular collection covers both his early poetry, containing enchanting imagery that was said to have influence the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, as well as his poems as laureate, including the classic Charge of the Light Brigade.

Volume I: Includes early sonnets and dramatic monologues such as the Lotus-Eaters (C. Kegan Paul, 1878).
Volume II: Includes well-known classics such as The Charge of the Light Brigade (C. Kegan Paul, 1878).
Volume III: Includes the Arthurian Round Table poems (C. Kegan Paul, 1878).
Volume IV: Includes The Princess; A Medley, and Maud; A Monodrama (Henry S. King, 1875).
Volume V: Includes Enoch Arden and In Memorium (C. Kegan Paul, 1878).
Volume VI: Includes Queen Mary: A Drama and Harold: A Drama (Henry S. King, 1877).
Volume VII: Includes The Lover's Tale, as well as ballads, sonnets and translations (C. Kegan Paul, 1881).

Condition

In full calf prize binding. Externally, bright and clean boards with minimal handling marks. Small minor marks to rear joints of volumes II and VII. Marble end papers are in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the very faint mark to the right edge of the occasional leaf.
