The first edition in the publisher's original pictorial cloth.

With thirty out of thirty-two (sixteen birds, sixteen eggs) lithographic plates of birds and their eggs. Collated, plates two and seven of birds missing. 

A lovely and vibrant exploration of British avian wildlife, in a highly pictorial cloth binding with gilt decoration.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally, smart with bumping and shelf wear to extremities and spine head and tail. Fading of cloth to spine joints. The odd mark to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Plates 2 and 7 of birds missing.  Plates 1, 4, 10 (eggs), and 11, 12 (birds) loose. Previous owner inscription and library stamp to front free endpaper. Pages clean but age toned and slight spotting, heavier to the first and last few.
