The first Strahan edition of the work, and the first to contain illustrations by Ernest Griset. First published by Joseph Cundall in 1846.
With thirty engravings by Ernest Griset. Collated complete. Griset was a French born artist and illustrator, know for his humorous depictions.
Written by Richard, Henry Horne, a poet best known for his work 'Orion'.
An early example of this humorous work, with the sought after Griset illustrations.
Condition
In publisher's original pictorial paper wraps. Externally very smart with slight creasing to the extremities. Slight loss to lower spine. The odd mark to the wraps. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just the odd handling mark and minor chip to the fore edge.
