    First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

    The Sixteenth Annual Report of the General Board of Commissioners in Lunacy for Scotland.

    The commissioners provide a detailed account of the condition and management of lunatic asylums, and discusses the treatment of 'lunatics' across Scotland.

    This report includes statistical tables detailing admissions, discharges, recoveries, deaths, and the overall number of patients in both public and private asylums. Including a folding table.

    Faint former owner's stamp to front wrap.

    The work reflects a period of reform in the treatment of mental illness, with increased attention to humane care, structured facilities, and the role of trained staff.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original paper wraps. Front wrap detached, but present, with chipping and small losses to perimeters, and stamp to wrap head. Significant loss to back strip head and tail. Loss to perimeters or rear wrap. Rear wrap tenderly held. Internally, binding lightly strained throughout. Pages lightly age toned, but clean.
