1874-1875 The Bible Educator
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Leather Binding, Scarce
The scarce first edition of this work, complete in four volumes.
Edited and arranged by Edward Hayes Plumptre, a respected theologian, Anglican clergyman, and scholar.
Designed as a comprehensive and accessible guide to the Bible for lay readers and teachers, the series combined theological insight with practical instruction. Each volume featured contributions from various biblical scholars and clergy of the time, aiming to deepen readers’ understanding of Scripture through historical, geographical, and doctrinal context.
Text leaves are interleaved with ruled blanks, so that readers may make their own notes on what they are being taught.
Illustrated with a frontispiece to volume I, and with further full page and vignette illustrations throughout.
Undated; dated 1874-1875 via the British Library.
This work reflects the Victorian emphasis on moral instruction and the role of the Bible in national life.
