A wonderfully illustrated work.

Illustrated with sixty-nine mounted albumen photographs, numbered I-XXXVII and I-XXXII. Collated, complete.

In his preface, author Elijah Aldis explains the difficulty of capturing the photographs, and states that the descriptive text was supplied by local antiquary John Noake.

With the library bookplate of Cardiff public libraries to the front pastedown, and a library collation slip to the rear pastedown. With ink library notation to verso of title page.

A detailed study of the late fourteenth century misericords attached to the choir stalls of Worcester Cathedral, and of further medieval sculptures.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with gilt detailing. Loss of cloth to spine. Front board detached. Rear joint starting, with board tenderly held. Library bookplates to front and rear pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and generally clean, with the odd area of spotting, and light handling mark. Library notation to verso of title page.
