Author of works on Paris and its history, Alfred Delvau (1825-1867), son of a master tanner from the Faubourg Saint-Marceau, recounts his Parisian childhood in On the Banks of the Bièvre: Impressions and Memories.

Contains a prior owner's bookplate to the front paste down.

In quarter green morocco with paper-covered marbled boards. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to joints and extremities and minor shelf wear to paper-covered boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned and the odd spot throughout, heavier to the first and last few. Contains prior owner's bookplate to front paste down.
