    Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

    A collection of witty and humorous stories as edited by George Manville Fenn. An undated copy, dated from Jisc 1872. 

    Comprising an exhaustive collection of stories by numerous contributors, including Edward Irwin, W. S. Gilbert, James Russell Lowell, F. C. Burn, and Bret Harte among many others. Notably, this volume includes three stories by Mark Twain, 'Three by Twain': 'Weapons of War,' 'The Jackass Rabbit,' and 'Indigestible Food' on page 456-7. 

    Illustrated in text with numerous vignettes, as well as ten full page plates, including the frontispiece. Collated, complete.

    Condition

    In the original publisher's full cloth binding, with gilt to the edges. Externally smart with some shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. With some minor soiling to the boards. The front joint is slightly cracked, the back strip now laid down. Internally, firmly bound. With some minor scattered spotting to the occasional leaf, although the pages are generally bright and clean. Illustrated in text with numerous vignettes, as well as ten full page plates, including the frontispiece. Collated, complete.
