This account documents the last scenes of de Beauvoir's voyage round the world, beginning in Shanghai and travelling through Pekin, the Great Wall, Yokohama, Jeddo, San Francisco and Saratoga before returning to Paris.
Written by Francois Jean de Beauvoir, who served during the War of American Independence as major general in the French expeditionary forces. He was also widely noted, at the time of his campaigns in America, as a highly talented man of letters and a member of the Academie Francaise.
Sixteen pages of advertisements bound upside-down the rear, followed by sixteen more pages of advertisements bound correctly.
Condition
Bound in half calf, with cloth boards. Externally, with really only fading to the spine, otherwise minimal signs of shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spot, heaviest to the first and last few leaves.
