    Very scarce work.

    Bound in quarter cloth, with the original wraps bound in.

    The commissioners provide a detailed account of the condition and management of lunatic asylums, and discusses the treatment of 'lunatics' across Scotland.

    This report includes statistical tables detailing admissions, discharges, recoveries, deaths, and the overall number of patients in both public and private asylums. Including a folding table.

    The work reflects a period of reform in the treatment of mental illness, with increased attention to humane care, structured facilities, and the role of trained staff.

    Condition

    Bound in quarter cloth with marbled paper-covered boards. Original wraps bound in. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing and the odd mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. With a historical society stamp to the verso of the table.
